Eligibility

Participants must be present at the event location for at least some part of the hacking period. Participants must be a student at some university or currently taking a gap year.

Project and Submission Requirements

1. At least 60% of the code must be written in Rust (judged by file size, excludes auto-generated code such as wasm outputs and libraries).

2. Passing off a large amount of work as your own is considered plagiarism and may be considered for disqualification.

3. Participants must be present for at least some part of the hacking period to have a valid submission.

4. Participants must be present for judging at 10:00 am May 5th to be considered for first place.

Prizes

The first place prize is a hand-sewn plushie of Ferris!

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Judges will be a subset of members of Hack@UCI that attend the event and do not submit a project. We will judge off of a rubric that is TBD, each track will have a different rubric and there will only be one winner in total.

Our hackathon is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable environment and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of the following:

  • nationality
  • religion
  • political views
  • previous hackathon attendance or lack of
  • computing experience or lack of
  • chosen programming language or tech stack
We do not tolerate harassment of hackathon participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at any hackathon venue, this includes the following.
  • hacks
  • talks, presentations, or demos
  • workshops
  • any parties associated to the hackathon
  • social media
  • any other online media
Hackathon participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the hackathon without a refund (if applicable) at the discretion of the hackathon organisers.
